Q. How and when do I get started?

Q. How many sessions a year do you offer?

A. In order to align with the demanding schedules of today’s professionals, the MBA program offers 6 sessions per year. Request Information or contact an Admissions Advisor at (866) 295-3104 for the next session date.


Q. What kind of educational background is required for admission?

A. You must have an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Students with an undergraduate GPA of 2.5-2.9 will be considered for conditional admission based on the quality of other aspects of their admissions file. Benedictine’s Online MBA does not require an undergraduate major in business.

However, students who hold a degree with a non-business major are required to complete Foundation courses. Based upon your prior academic preparation, some of the Foundation courses may be waived. Contact an Admissions Advisor at (866) 295-3104 to query about your specific requirements.


Q. Is there a thesis required?

A. No.  Benedictine’s online MBA program does not require a thesis. A culminating capstone experience is provided.


Q. Can the GMAT requirement be waived?

A. Yes. Applicants to the Online MBA program can request a GMAT waiver under the following conditions:

• Applicants already possess an advanced degree.
• Applicants have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.2.
• Applicants who have a cumulative undergraduate GPA from 2.5 to 3.1 can request a GMAT waiver by completing our MBA 520 and MBA 541 courses with a grade of “B” or higher.

All GMAT waiver requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.


Q. How many total credits are required?

A. The Online MBA program consists of 48 credit hours (12 courses) for students who have earned a business-related Bachelor’s degree, and have the appropriate academic experience to apply for waiver of the Foundation courses. For students who possess a degree with a non-business major, additional credits are required. Q. How many courses do I take per academic term?

A. Most adult students, who work full-time, take one online course per eight-week session. The Online MBA program offers six academic sessions per year, which means that most students take six courses per year.


Q. Which foundation courses are eligible for course waiver based on equivalent coursework?

A. Online MBA students are able to apply for waivers in the following Foundation Courses: MBA 530, MBA 541, MBA 510, MBA 500, and MBA 539. Foundation Course waivers require at least one undergraduate course in the same topic area with a grade of “A” or one equivalent graduate course with a grade of “B” or higher.  A grade of “B” at the undergraduate level will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Additional documentation may be required.

Q. Can I transfer in additional course work beyond the Foundation courses?
A. Online MBA students are able to apply for waivers in the following Managerial Process Courses: MBA 601, MBA 611, MBA 651, MBA 661, MBA 630, MBA 683, and MBA 671. Managerial Process courses require one equivalent graduate or two comparable upper division (i.e. sophomore, junior and senior level) undergraduate courses in the same topic area, completed with a “B” or higher.

The Maximum Number of Allowable Transfer/Course Substitution Hours: 32 Quarter Hours – only 16 total hours at the undergraduate level.


Q. Is advising available for all students?

A. Yes. Each student receives a customized Curriculum Planner for the online MBA program and can set up a telephone appointment to speak with an advisor whenever assistance is needed.
