Doctor of Education Online - Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How and when do I get started?
A. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the year. Request Information or contact an Admissions Advisor at (866) 295-3104 for enrollment information.

Q. How many sessions a year do you offer?
A. New Doctor of Education (Ed.D) students are currently admitted three times per year. Once enrolled, there are six eight-week classes per held annually. Please Request Information or contact an Admissions Advisor at (866) 295-3104 for the next session date.

Q. What kind of educational  & work background is required for admission?
A. You must have a master’s level degree or higher, with the GPA from the latest degree at a minimum of 3.0. Lower GPAs may be considered for conditional admission. Additionally,  the program requires a minimum of three years of work experience.

Q. Is there a dissertation required?
A. Yes.  You will be preparing a thesis throughout the program with much of the emphasis falling in the final year.

Q. Are there any entrance exams required?
A. No. 

Q. How many total credits are required?
A. The Online Ed. D. program consists of 18 courses comprised of a total of 60 credit hours.

Q. How many courses do I take per academic term?
A. Most adult students, who work full-time, take one online course per eight-week session. The Online Ed. D. program offers six academic sessions per year, which means that most students take six courses per year.

Q. Can I transfer in credits from another doctoral program?
A. Due to the way that the course is structured and builds on itself, no outside credits can be accepted.

Q. Is advising available for all students?
A. Yes. Each student receives a customized Curriculum Planner for the online Doctor of Education program and can set up a telephone appointment to speak with an advisor whenever assistance is needed.
