Chris Fernandez

Hello and Welcome! I am excited about working with each of you as we explore and learn about teamwork and conflict.  I really enjoy teaching online courses and know that as a collective we can create a positive and productive learning environment.
A little bit about me. I strive to be an active learner and like to share my experiences to enhance learning. Currently, I am the Lead Organizational Development Consultant at our family owned management consulting startup mindfulODpractice Inc. The emphasis of the practice is to create responsive and resilient organizations. We offer consulting services and specialty workshops on team building, managing differences and conflict, complex problem-solving within teams, and managing for resilience. My qualifications include a PhD in Organizational Behavior from Case Western Reserve University, an MBA from George Williams College, an M.S. in Physics from Chittagong University in Bangladesh, and 23 years of work experience with a global company in Corporate America.
I have always loved to teach and to share what I have learned, and in the process I learn from class participants. The courses I teach at Benedictine University and other local universities include Leadership, Team Building, Conflict Management, and Consulting Skills. Up until May 2008, I worked as a New Product Manager/Consultant for next generation wireless network products at Alcatel-Lucent, a telecommunication company. My work assignments included leading a wide range of Organizational Change and New Product Development Initiatives.
I also like to walk, golf, swim, and participate in community service. I support the work of St. Vincent de Paul team at my local church and serve the Aurora Family YMCA as a member of the Board of Directors. In addition, I like to engage in creative endeavors that have the potential to be patented. To date I have received three U.S. patents and have several other patent applications in the review pipeline.
You now know a little about me and will learn more when class begins. I encourage each of you to take a few minutes to introduce yourself in the Student Lounge. Getting to know each other is valuable towards building a learning community, where networking and the quality of participant relationships (even virtual) are essential ingredients.
